“Behaviorists for Social Responsibility (BFSR) is a Special Interest Group of the Association for Behavior Analysis: International (ABAI). The mission of BFSR is to encourage applications of the science of behavior analysis and behavioral systems analysis to address social issues, particularly those with social justice, human rights, and environmental dimensions…” (http://www.bfsr.org/BFSR/Home.html).
In association with Texas Association for Behavior Analysis (TxABA), the Texas Subgroup created a networking platform for the surrounding area due to a growing number of individuals and behavior analysts interested in social issues. The Texas Subgroup upholds the mission of BFSR by encouraging participation in outreach events, offering relevant articles and discussion questions for continued education, and highlighting students’ active involvement regarding social issues.
Who Are We?
As of 2019, BFSR Texas Subgroup electoral members voted to change leadership to a Board of Planners (BOP). The board may include students, professors, practitioners and others in order to provide a more inclusive and well-rounded community. The current members hope this change will bring solidarity to those practicing behavior analysis in Texas and provide an easier platform to share ideas and promote active engagement of the science within a social justice context.
